Ron Jay was born a minister's son in Los Angeles, California in December of 1947. Ron spent his early life in the Oklahoma area where his parents pastored several churches. While still a teenager, Ron's life was perhaps altered forever at a camp meeting in Tecumseh, Oklahoma where Gary McSpadden, of the Bill Gaither vocal band fame, appeared with his first trio. The group sang "Let the Church Roll On" and planted the seed for group singing in Ron's mind.

While still in college, Ron sang with several groups and finally helped resurrect "The Clarions" while finishing school in Houston, Texas. After finishing college, Ron returned to Oklahoma and helped organize the group that would prove to be his ministry of passion, "The Gentry".

Ron is now married to his wife Lanette and has one son, Nichlas. "Nick" is a musician-song writer in his own right and has played and sung in numerous youth events across the country. He also works with local praise teams at cdhurches in the Dallas, Texas area.

Ron is the spokesman and Manager of "The Gentry" and sings baritone. "God has performed many miracles in my life. He has spared my life more than once and I feel certain that the ministry of "The Gentry" is a major reason I am here.
